National Health IT Board ebooklet (August 2011) -  Towards Better Access to Information about Our Health (PDF, 810KB)

This booklet includes examples showing how information technology is helping New Zealanders get the best possible health care.  Many health care organisations are making good use of technology systems and the National Health IT Board is working to ensure these proven systems are shared regionally and globally. 

New RIS/PACS paves the way towards regional IT investment -

Hawkes Bay DHB have replaced their Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS).   Radiologists say this system has moved the DHB towards a complete electronic health record for radiology.  

TXT2Remind dramatically improves immunisation rates -

Raukura Hauora O Tainui, an iwi charitable trust PHO with over 20,000 clients, has dramatically improved their immunisation rates by using text messaging. Performance has also been lifted in other areas requiring reminders and follow-ups, such mammograms and cervical screening.

DHBs launch e-learning for clinical coders -

Auckland and Waikato DHBs have tackled the shortage of experienced clinical coders by creating New Zealand's first on-line training course for clinical coders. The ACE (Accelerated Coding Education) course is customised for the New Zealand coding environment, delivering an accelerated training pathway through on-line training and support tools.
