Oncology Project Progress Summary
April 2011 to July 2011
- The Southern Cancer Network is proceeding with the implementation of the Mosaiq system for Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology at the 3 South Island sites (Southern DHB, Canterbury DHB, and St Georges Private Hospital).
- Information from all 3 sites is being aggregated into a data warehouse environment called Metriq which is being modelled on the Core Cancer Data standard currently awaiting HISO approval.
- The other three regional cancer networks are monitoring progress via the national forum (National Cancer Clinical Information Leadership Group). An evaluation of an alternative system for Midland region based on a different application (Somerset) concluded that this system was not suitable for implementation in the NZ context.
- In July 2011 the focus has been on ensuring consistency of the core dataset in Metriq, and in drafting some evaluation criteria to measure success.
- There has been a delay in implementation because of some contractual issues with the supplier (Electa) and shift in IT resources as a result of the Christchurch earthquake. Metriq is expected to be fully operational by Dec 2011.
