Notification of e-Discharges Requirements
Notification of High Level Requirements (Prototype)
for e- Discharges following transfer of care from secondary to primary care
On behalf of the National Health IT Board, The National Information Clinical Leadership Group has approved a High Level Requirements Prototype for the transfer of care between health practitioners. The purpose of these requirements is to specify the clinical content and process to support a national standard for transfer of care information focusing on electronic discharges from hospital.
These specifications have been developed over the past six months drawing on international and NZ wide good practice and significantly shaped from sector feedback. While it is a substantive piece of work, and there has been consensus on some aspects of the requirements and not others, the National Information Clinical Leadership Group recognises that it will take an iterative process to refine the requirements prior to national roll out.
This work will continue under the Primary Health IT Programme, where Andre Bredenkamp, Project Manager, e-Continuum of Care, will develop a technical specification in conjunction with PMS vendors and prepare a Prototype for demonstration.
The High Level Requirements Prototype will be developed to test and demonstrate the outcome against the requirements and further consultation changes may be made prior to a software release for pilot in two or three DHBs.
The Prototype may change following an evaluation of the pilots giving an opportunity for further amendments to the requirements before a national roll out commences.
