National Information Clinical Leadership Group (NICLG) - October Update
NICLG (pronounced "Nickle") is made up of members from a variety of professional bodies and colleges providing leadership and support for clinicians in New Zealand. It provides clinical leadership input to the National Health IT Plan and has input into a range of clinical process and information solutions.
Enabling Integrated Health Care Event

Dr Peter Gow (Chair of NICLG) and Dr Janine Bycroft at the Enabling Integrated Healthcare Event.
As you may know, the National Health IT Board and NICLG held an event at the Wellington Town Hall on 30 August 2011.
The event was an opportunity for Ministry staff, clinical leaders and their vendor partners and other stakeholders to come together, share ideas and showcase their work. Innovative solutions that support new ways of delivering and managing health care were presented, demonstrating the progress made towards achieving the eHealth vision, the key goal of the National Health IT Plan.
More information about the event, and presentations from the night, can be found here.
August National Clinical Information Leadership Group meeting
NICLG met in August, with the highlights being sessions with Health Quality and Safety Commission, Health Workforce New Zealand and the Consumer Panel. The afternoon session focused on the National Shared Care programme, specifically the Long Term Conditions pilots and upcoming Maternity Shared Record of Care trial.

Next version of Information Governance document available
Since the publication of the National Health IT Plan in August 2010, many complex issues relating to governance of information across the health and disability sector have become apparent, or have been identified as critical for the future success of the sector.
In response, the National Health IT Board has been working to establish an Information Governance Framework that can assist the sector with decision-making about the use of health information.
The Information Governance in the NZ Health Sector discussion document (PDF, 155KB) is now available for feedback and comment.
A group of stakeholders including NICLG has already provided feedback over a two-week period and we are now opening the revised framework for wider comment.
Feedback is invited from a wide range of stakeholder groups and individuals, and from those with strong interest and expertise in the information governance area. Responses are due by 31 January 2012 and may be emailed to enquiries@ithealthboard.health.nz.
