Latest progress and achievements for Regional Information Platforms area

The latest achievements in the Regional Information Platforms area include:

• a set of specifications and templates for electronic discharge have been agreed nationally.
• full roll out of primary care referrals in the Auckland region is expected to start in December 2011
• the Central Region DHBs are working towards a single regional system for managing patient information. Technology systems will ‘talk' to each other, so information can be shared across the region. Clinicians will be able to view all relevant patient information, improving patient care
• South Canterbury DHB has chosen to join up with Canterbury DHB so clinicians in both regions can view patient information through a single, secure web-based clinical information system
• each DHB region has agreed to implement a hospital pharmacy information system to manage internal workflow, including medicines reconciliation, registering scripts and dispensing medicines
