Community workshops - the future of health enabled by information

Thu, 24/06/2010 - 10:34

The National Health IT Board is holding a series of community workshops in association with the Telecommunications Users Association of New Zealand (TUANZ).

The workshops are being held to consult with the community about shared care patient records, including how they will work and how access to personal health information will be managed. 'Shared care' is a key foundation of a 21st Century national health system that will be enabled by the government's Ultra Fast Broadband initiative.

We are inviting members from a wide range of community groups and local iwi to attend. So that people will feel comfortable sharing their experiences and views of the health service, the first part of the workshop - 3pm to 5.30pm - will be a closed session.

Each workshop will then be opened up to health professionals and members of the media are welcome to attend and report on the second session - from 6pm to 7pm.

Each workshop begins at 3pm and aims to finish at 7pm.  Dates and venues are below.
