The Connected Health 'Network of Networks'
Connected Health is not building a new network. The Connected Health Network will be a secure 'network of networks' connecting up healthcare organisations on different telecommunication service provider networks to three interconnection points.
The certifiable products that make up the current Health Network will be incorporated into the Connected Health Network. The target timeframe for this is December 2010.
The different networks will interconnect because they will be certified against Connected Health network connectivity standards, which have been developed in consultation with the telecommunications industry.
The diagram below shows how the network will be made up.
